Infant Program

Recent research on infant brain development emphasizes the importance of interaction with the caregiver.  Our teachers sing songs and read stories to encourage language development.  Parents work with their baby's teacher to set their child's schedule to ensure consistency between home and Kid's World. Every day each child is sent home with a daily sheet detailing everything that occurred that day including feedings, nap times, and diaper changes.

The program is also aimed at helping the child learn the skills needed for the next step in their life. We focus on skills such as sitting, crawling, walking, holding his/her bottle, self-feeding, and saying basic words. Floor time is another important part of the infant program. It helps the child develop large muscle skills, interact with his/her surroundings, and become more independent. Love and nurturing are a huge part of infant care. They are held and cuddled as much as possible.

Toddler

Toddler Program (12months to 2 Years)

We provide an environment that is surrounded by new challenges and the teacher is there to encourage their eager investigation.  Activities include; art, circle time, finger play, songs, and stories to help develop the toddler's language and fine motor skills.   We use a thematic approach to our curriculum which helps the children expand their vocabulary.  The teacher's careful observation of each child encourages and supports the child's social skills.  The toddlers outside playground is covered by a tarp to ensure protection from the sun. This allows them to enjoy themselves outside while developing large motor skills.  We provide monthly lesson plans, daily sheets, and monthly newsletters to our parents to keep them informed of their child's daily activities.

Two Year Old Program

We work with the child on toileting, dressing, hand washing, and taking care of the environment.  A language rich setting helps the children begin to link written words to objects.  Colors, shapes, numbers, and letter recognition are included in this strong developmentally appropriate program.  Art and music are included every day.  Parents receive daily reports, lesson plans, and monthly newsletters to keep them informed and involved in their child's day.

Curriculum

The programs incorporate a different topic each month. The curriculum is coordinated specifically for their age. A detailed curriculum is posted in the classroom each month by the teacher. Repetition is a very important part of learning for this age group. Children have at least two art projects each day to help develop small muscle skills and creativity.

Three & Four Year Old Programs

We realize that as children get older their interests change and they require a program that gives them the freedom of choice. We offer a space that they can do their homework and participate in a variety of active activities such as the outdoors, arts and crafts, reading, and theater.

Programs

This program gives the children a chance to be exposed to the fun and meaningful world of science once a month. They are taught about animals and reptiles. The children really enjoy being able to see the creatures first hand. They also learn how things work by using hands-on science experiments. As of now they have learned how to make rockets, slime, and a hover-craft!

A program for ages 3-5. Kinder dance is a planned developmental dance/movement and fitness program taught in three levels. It utilizes ballet, tap, acrobatics, and creative dance while blending educational concepts.

The Giggle Bus is an exercise and gymnastics program that facilitates lessons each Friday here at Kid's World. Trained instructors bring their specially outfitted bus to the center that includes mats, a balance beam, a rock wall, a zip line, rings, a trampoline and much more! Children ages 2-6 participate in a fun and structured program one hour a week. http://thegigglebus.com

Breakfast with Santa:

Over the holidays the children learn a variety of holiday songs during music class. At the Breakfast with Santa event the children perform the songs for their families and friends. They also have the opportunity to have pictures taken with Santa Claus that are available to order.

Holiday Celebrations:

The children really enjoy each of the holidays such as Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Thanksgiving. They spend the whole week making hats and noise makers to show off during a special parade. This gives the children an opportunity to learn more about the holiday and why we celebrate it.

St. Jude’s Trike-A-Thon and other Fundraisers:

Each year we host a St. Jude’s Trike-a-Thon event to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The children participate by learning bicycle safety and riding their trikes at school on that day. It helps teach our children that you are never too young to help others. We also host a variety of other fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money for special additions to our program such as playground equipment.

End of the Year Program & Pre-K Graduation:

Our "End of the Year Program" gives the children an opportunity to show their parents what they have learned throughout the year. Our toddler and Pre-K classes will put on a big performance. We also celebrate the graduates of the Pre-K Program with a full cap and gown ceremony. They receive their diploma, a ring, cap and gown, and sash.
